Michiganders love their road trips and gas prices, as we’ve talked about before, have been plummeting. It’s cheaper than it has been in years to fill up your tank, and that might just mean it’s time for vacation.
But say you’re budget-concious (like most of us are) and wanting to skip the bothersome lines at the airport, hop in your car and hit the road.
Thanks to the folks at HowMuch.net, here’s a handy-dandy map that’ll show you that you could, depending on your mileage, get as far as New York City on just for $50. Other cities in reach are Charlotte, North Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri; or Chattanooga, TN. Although it’s relatively warm in the 50s here this weekend, you’re just $50 bucks and some drive time from a nice winter break of 69 degrees in North Carolina.
Here’s how the map works. The light green is for $10; the darker the shade, the more it’ll cost with the darkest green representing $50 for the cost of driving.
Other fun cities in the $50 range include Chicago, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. In the next couple of months before the heat returns, a quick jaunt south to help get through winter is a very tempting thought.
