Update: Due to the immense interest in this estate sale the organizers have postponed the sale. The Estate Sale of the Century will now be held on Thursday, May 19th through Saturday, May 21st from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
We don’t often write about the farther reaches of Macomb County around here – we did include Frank’s Eastside Tavern as one of the basement bars you have to check out – but considering there are more than 3,000 people interested in this “Estate Sale Of The Century,” and the house looks awesome, we figured we’d dive in.
It looks like, if you’re willing to make the 40 minute drive from downtown (or, you’re already an eastsider) and you’re into historic or vintage, well, everything – this might just be your ticket.
There will be more than 6,000 square feet of vintage furniture and household décor, including:
- Pianos – One is a Hallet Davis Square Grand from 1891 and the other is a Cable Co. Reproducer from 1928, according to the page.
- Lamps
- Couches
- Sideboards
- Rugs
- Beds
- Dressers
- Dining Tables
- Coffee Tables
- Desks
- Bookcases
- Clocks
- Mirrors
- Stools
- Paintings
- Tapestries
- China
- Stemware
- Books and more
According to the event page, items date from 1870s to 1920s, but there are plenty of vintage items from the 1930s through the 1970s. Here are just a couple of the pictures.
It starts Thursday, May 19 until Saturday, May 21 and runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. As per usual with estate sales – usually the earlier bird gets the worm as far as good stuff goes, although there seems to be a lot in this one.
The exact address is 439 Prospect Street in Romeo, Michigan 48065.
