The second of six QLINE streetcar arrived Wednesday night, according to M1-Rail officials.
Each of the three-piece cars are 66 feet long and will carry an average of 125 passengers per car at up to 35 miles per hour. They’ll also have wi-fi, vertical bike racks and climate control. The QLINE will allow for station-level access for pedestrians as well as persons who use mobility assistance devices such as wheelchairs.
“M-1 RAIL will be receiving a new vehicle approximately ever five weeks until we have the full fleet of six streetcars from Brookville,” said M-1 RAIL Chief Operating Officer Paul Childs. “Our delivery schedule and testing remain on schedule. Later this fall, Detroiters can expect to see the QLINE’s first appearance on the track for testing.”
The first QLINE streetcar arrived in mid-September, nearly two months ahead of initial projections, according to officials. Brookville streetcars are also in Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.
