Usually when we think of Detroit style pizza there are a handful of pizza places that come to mind right away. One of those places is Shield’s.
On Tuesday, April 25 the Troy location of Shield’s will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Andoni brothers purchasing the pizzeria.
While Shield’s opened in 1937, Peter and Paul Andoni bought the restaurant in 1992. Since then they have expanded from one location to three in metro Detroit. The other two restaurants are in Southfield and Macomb Township.
“It really has been a great 25-year run,” said Paul Andoni. “We have loyal customers that have been with us from the very start and have been blessed with terrific employees throughout the years, as well.”
To celebrate this big milestone the Troy location will have birthday cake, a card for patrons to sign, and gift card giveaways. Twenty-five people will win gift cards for $25 throughout the day.
The Troy Shield’s location is at 1476 W. Maple Road in Troy.
