If you don’t already have Saturday plans, there are a lot of things happening in Corktown this weekend as part of Spring into Corktown.
The morning starts out at 9 a.m. with Motor City Makeover. You can check in at Roosevelt Park. There will be Detroit Institute of Bagels and coffee.
At 11 a.m. the Nordin Brother’s sculpture will be unveiled at 14th Street and Michigan Boulevard. The sculpture is sponsored by Strategic Staffing Solutions and HATCH Detroit. I hear that the Detroit Party Marching Band will be performing there as well.
If you’re looking for some exercise head over to Dean Savage Park, because there will be pop up classes throughout the day.
Citizen Yoga at 12 p.m.- 1 p.m.
True Body Fitness at 1 p.m.- 2 p.m.
Detroit Morning Beats Dance from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m.
Are you bringing your kids? There will be a kids corner from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Bagley and Trumbull.
The 12 and Under Super Cool Poetry Open Mic will be hosted by King Thomas Moore. Moore was the 2016 Knights Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge Award winner. You can find out more information about the open mic here. The open mic is from 1 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.
There will be face painting, carnival games and crafts from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Fresh Food Fairy will also be making an appearance from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Parks and stuff are great, but what about all the shops, restaurants and bars in Corktown?
You can hop on the free Corktown shuttle from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. This shuttle will to take you around the neighborhood. You might also get a little history lesson while you’re catching a ride.
