It’s a visit to the Plymouth headquarters of electric vehicle upstart Rivian, which rocketed out of obscurity when it debuted its eye-catching, zero-emissions SUV and pickup truck at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. In Metro Detroit We Build And Design New Cars, But We Can't Afford Them

Detroit is still in many ways the home of the American auto industry. But a new report out by Bankrate.com shows that Metro Detroit is second to last when it comes to being able to actually afford those cars, compared to our incomes. Having just finished this book by Karen Dybis (you may have seen her byline before with the Detroit News or DetroitUnspun), instead of going through some sort of in-depth review, we asked if she’d share a sample chapter of her creation “Ford Wyoming Drive-in: Cars...

The Real Reason Tesla Didn’t Win In Michigan

It is legislation that has been commonly framed as a law to keep electric automaker Tesla and their direct-to-consumer model of selling cars out of the state. Some are wondering exactly why or how this law happened. There was a last-minute legislative addition to tweak language, but I t...
