Taste Test: Norden Aquavit Is Detroit's Newest — And Only — Scandinavian Spirit

But here comes Norden Aquavit, a nearly year-old brand distilled right here in Detroit by longtime bartender and Berkeley, California native Robyn Cleveland. I met Cleveland last weekend at a midsommar Swedish dinner at Frame in Hazel Park put on by chef Jill Vedaa, of Salt i...

It’s a sad day for lovers of Eastern Market and a quirky deli that’s beloved by many. Mark Kurlyandchik over at the Freep is reporting that Russell Street Deli in Eastern Market is closing September 28. The reason? A landlord/tenant dispute. I strongly suggest you give it a read. There’s an impasse between Russell Street co-owner Ben Hall and landlord Sanford Nelson. So if you see me, be sure to say hello. Scary Classic Movies Can I tell you a secret about myself? I really don’t like very many horror movies. Your City 5 Things To Do This Weekend In Detroit: September 21-23

It seems like everyone else is already for fall to be here. People keep talking about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and sweater weather. But I have held out on getting anything autumnal until the actual autumn equinox. I don’t know why I have been such a stickler for holding on to the last remnants of summer, but I’ve been pretty hard core this year. But, this Saturday is the first official day of autumn. So, I guess I better stop digging in my heels and pull out those riding boots. There are a ton...

Maybe it will hit me more when I drop off my little at his first day of preschool next Monday. In any case I’ll just be over here soaking up as much vitamin D the sun rays can give me. I digres...
