Detroit is losing one of its most beloved bike shops. Motorless City Bicycle Company says it plans to permanently close its doors at the end of September after four seasons in business in Eastern Market. A long-vacant building that hulks over I-375 in downtown Detroit is set to be demolished so developers can build housing in its place. It’s part of a number of developments Crain’s reports are coming to the city’s near east side. The Lafayette West project envisions two buildings; one being twelve story and the other being five stories. It will be on the site of the former Wayne State University Shapero Hall. Now that cookie season is over, you might not think much about the Girl Scouts…unless you have a kid involved in a troop.
