Check Out 1,000 People Playing "Seven Nation Army" By The White Stripes

It’s pretty epic to see 1,000 musicians play a song. Even better when it’s from the White Stripes, a rock duo that although broken up still has a lot of love around here. “Seven Nation Army” (so named because as a child Jack White called the Salvation Army the Seven Nation Army) has a James Bond-like riff and has become a sports anthem to those far and wide. The plant behind 441 West Canfield won’t be operational on Friday, but the plan is to eventually have eight presses going according to Pitchfork. While the manufacturing arm definitely means that Third Man wi...

More big moves related to music and development in Motown. Jack White’s Third Man Records is now going to neighbor to the Shinola store, occupying the space currently held by Willy’s Detroit. Shinola Founder, Tom Kartsotis, partnered with Detroit native Jack White to purchase the building that currently houses the Shinola Flagship store at 441 W. Canfield in the Midtown/Cass Corridor area. The area has seen a retail resurgence as a true shopping district as of late. The deal marks new expans...
