Temporary Dam Coming To Detroit's Canal District

The City of Detroit is building a temporary dam on the city’s east side. With Great Lakes and river waters expected to be higher than last year, the dam, at a cost of $2 million, was deemed necessary to protect the Conner Creek Wet Weather Treatment Facility from being overwhelmed. Two historic apartment buildings on Marlborough Street just off of Jefferson will be redeveloped into 23 new apartments. The buildings have been vacant for more than 30 years. Detroit Neighborhoods Could See $130 Million In New Investment

Seven Detroit neighborhoods would see $130 million in investment as part of a major, coordinated campaign with the Kresge Foundation. The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation has announced the 13 winners in Round 10 of its Motor City Match grant program.
