Detroit's Historic East Side Jefferson-Chalmers Neighborhood Gets National Treasure Status

Today was a good day in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood of Detroit. The east side neighborhood, situated just before the Grosse Pointe Border, the Detroit river, and Jefferson Avenue, was named one of the United States National Treasures from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Pitch In! Cleanup and Board Up Starts Today In Charlevoix Village Neighborhood

School’s back in session, which means that many young Detroiters will be walking through neighborhoods to reach their schools. While this is a great opportunity for students to get in some exercise and see their city from a new perspective, it can also pose dangers. Jefferson East, Inc.
