Check Out The New Mural On This New Center Parking Structure

A New Center parking structure on Baltimore between Second and Third Avenues has just received a $6.5 million dollar facelift. The structure needed structural repairs and a lot of upgrades. The upgrades included LED lighting, cameras, access system and safety phones. The most obvious improvement, though, are the new murals that are located along the east and west walls of the structure along Second and Third Avenues. Avalon To Take Over Old Cafe Con Leche Space In New Center

Avalon International Breads announced today that they will be opening a fourth Detroit location this summer. It will be called Avalon Cafe and Biscuit Bar. Local Internet Provider Rocket Fiber Expands Outside of Central Business District

Rocket Fiber, a local Gigabit Internet provider that offers customers internet speeds up to 1,000 times faster than the average residential connection, has finally expanded outside of the Central Business District of downtown and into more of what’s known as “Greater Downtown.” The Midtown, Brush Park, and New Center neighborhoods now have access to Rocket Fiber, according to this blog post by Rocket Fiber. Proposed Third And Grand Project In New Center To Have Public Hearing July 14

The same developer – Peter Cummings – that brought in the Whole Foods to the Midtown neighborhood also has his hands in a few other projects. Casamira Apartments Built In 1925 To Be Redeveloped Into 44 Apartments

In 12 months, the Casamira Apartments in New Center should have new life. There will be $10.2 million invested in the four story, 42,200 square foot property on Delaware street, near the end of the M-1 Rail under construction on Woodward. The faith-based economic development and employment training nonprofit Central Detroit Christian Community Development Corporation had the property donated to them.
