If you’re not in the holiday spirit yet, I have just the events to get you in the mood to rock those tacky holiday sweaters.
My four year old was crying this morning because today wasn’t Christmas. All I could tell him was that I’m glad it’s not Christmas yet, because I have nothing ready yet. One year I’ll have my stuff together, but this year it is not it.
Let’s look at what is happening this weekend shall we? There are so many things happening this weekend that I’ve thrown in two bonus events this week.
Krampus Night 8 A Holiday-ish Charity Extravaganza!
Let’s hope you have all been good boys and girls this year because Krampus is coming back to the Tangent Gallery on Friday night.
The highlight of the evening will be the CHRISTMAHANAKAWANZA Varity Show Spectacular. You’ll see performances by Satori Circus, Lushes Lamoan, Magenta DeMure, Bootsie La Fontaine, Scott Dambacher, and Konrad Lee, Lounge singer Extrodinaire.
There will also be the Wreck the Halls Exhibition, The Naughty List Bazaar, Bad Gingerbread House Competition, Fugly Holiday Sweater Contest, and the Not So Silent Fine Art Auction.
I should also mention that you will be able to get pictures with Krampus himself.
While there is no dress code, I suggest finding one of those crazy ugly sweaters so you can participate in the contest.
While Krampus Night is filled with all sorts of debauchery it is in fact a charity event. They will be collecting toys and canned food for those who are in need.
Bring some new unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots or canned food for Burners Without Borders Detroit.
This is an 18 and over event, so leave the kids at home.
Admission is $15 with an unwrapped toy and/or 3 cans of food. Come empty handed and the cover goes up to $20. (Those who bring a donation will also get a $5 coupon for the Naughty List Bazaar.)
Hours: 7:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
Tangent Gallery is located at 715 E. Milwaukee Street Detroit, Michigan 48202

Corktown Aglow will be returning for its third year this Saturday. This year the event is being hosted by the Corktown Business Association and Ford Motor Company.
Like in previous years there will be plenty of things to do for people of all ages and the best part is that it’s free to attend.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place on the corner of Bagley and Trumbull at 6:15 p.m.

The Detroit Police Department’s 3rd Precinct will be collecting items for its Adopt-A-Family program. Help “Stuff a Cop Car” with unwrapped toys, new socks, blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and newer gently used coats and sweaters for those who need help this winter.
While you are there stop by the Ponyride Holiday Makers Market, because there will be 50 Detroit small businesses popping up over there. Be sure to check out Printer and Press, her drawings are amazing and I love her work.
New this year is an all ages Block Party in a heated tent. It will be located on Bagley and Trumbull and will have beer, cocktails and food for purchase.
