Hello, hello, hello!

I can not wait for the weekend to get here. Last weekend was Ferndale Pride, and I had to miss it because I was still up north. But this weekend is Motor City Pride and I am stoked to hit Hart Plaza.

So, without further ado, let’s get to the events.

29th Annual Pewabic House & Garden Show

This weekend is the 29th Annual Pewabic House and Garden Show.

If you haven’t been over to Pewabic to check out the new Tile Studio, this is your chance! You will also get to look at the newly renovated courtyard.

There will be tours, family friendly things to do, and also a biergarten.

You’ll have a chance to check out the newest Postcards from Detroit tile which pays homage to the Detroit Institute of Arts. There will also be pieces from more than 50 artists from throughout North America, large-scale sculptures by Mark Chatterley and the Nordin Brothers.

The event kicks off with a ticketed fundraiser on Friday night. You can pick up tickets here if that sounds like fun.

The show is free on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday, June 7 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30, Saturday, June 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Pewabic is located at 10125 East Jefferson Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48214

Historic Indian Village Home and Garden Tour

Who doesn’t love Indian Village?

I know it’s one of my favorite neighborhoods to walk around.

This weekend is the 46th Annual Historic Indian Village Home and Garden Tour.

During the tour you will be able to check out six historic homes, one garde, three churches and one school.

The tour starts at The Detroit Waldorf School.

Shuttles will run continuously between the houses if you can’t do all of the walking.

Tickets start at $20 per person. You can buy them here.

Saturday, June 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 from 12:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Detroit Waldorf School is located at 2555 Burns Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48214

2019 Motor City Pride Festival and Parade

Happy Pride Month everyone!

This weekend is the 2019 Motor City Pride Festival and Parade. Hart Plaza will be filled with people celebrating the LGBTQ community.

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which took place on June 28, 1969.

There will be four stages with live music, drag shows and more. I know I’m looking forward to Sabin’s Drag Revue on Saturday afternoon because Ongina is the special guest.

If you happen to be there on Sunday, the headliner of the evening is Tunde Olaniran. His album Transgressor is pretty great.

The parade will take place on Sunday at noon. The parade route starts at Griswold and Fort Street and will head south on Griswold to East Jefferson Avenue. Here is the link to the map of the route.

There is a $5 cover charge and kids under 12 are free.

Saturday, June 8 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Hart Plaza is located at 1 West Jefferson Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

XXX Box: A Burlesque Video Game Tribute

Burlesque and video games?

My interest is peaked.

If you like both classic video games and burlesque then I suggest you head over to the Ant Hall this Saturday night.

Lushes Lamoan will be coming back to the stage after a couple month hiatus, so be sure to give her a lot of love.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. You can buy them here.

Saturday, June 8 from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The Ant Hall is located at 2320 Caniff Avenue Hamtramck, Michigan 48212

P.S. GenderBender will be throwing an after party for Motor City Pride after the show, so be sure to stick around after.

MotorBall 2019

If you’re heading down to Motor City Pride on Saturday night and want to hit one of the after parties I suggest hitting up the MotorBall at St. Andrews Hall. MotorBall is is a Worlds AIDS Day Detroit event.

This year Nina West will be performing, and I can’t wait. Nina West was just on the most recent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and she was in my top three for the season.

DJ Cindel and DJ Jesus Montanez will also be spinning all night.

Tickets start at $25 and go up to $50 if you want to do the meet and greet with Nina West. You can pick them up here.

Saturday, June 8 from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

St. Andrews Hall is located at 431 E Congress Street Detroit, Michigan 48226
