This weekend is crazy busy. I can’t believe that it is going to be December on Saturday. I swear, I blinked and November came and went.
I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited for Noel Night this year. I can’t wait to see some of the new additions that have joined the party.
Anyway, let’s get this party started shall we?
Detroit Urban Craft Fair
Have you finished your holiday shopping yet? I haven’t even started, but maybe I will pick up a few things at the 13th annual Detroit Urban Craft Fair this weekend.
Looking for some cool, cute or quirky gifts this year. This is the craft fair you want to go to. There will be over 100 different vendors set up at the Masonic Temple for DUCF.
I’m a fan of Jodi Lynn Doodles, Cool Critters, Worthwhile Paper. Our friends at Sfumato Fragrances will also be setting up shop there. Be sure to say hi to Kevin and Jane.
There will also be food options if you get hungry after all that shopping.
Friday night is the preview night, so tickets are $10 a person. A portion of the admission will be donated to Girls Rock Detroit, which creates camping experiences for girls.
Admission is $1 on Saturday and Sunday, but donations are always welcome.
Hours: Friday 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday 11:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Hustle Your Heart Out To End Youth Homelessness
If you’re looking for a fun event that is also going to do so much good for those who need it. I have just the thing for you.
On Friday night the Detroit Phoenix Center will be hosting a fundraiser to raise money for its Rise Emergency Winter Shelter and year-round Asset Based Resource Center.
Detroit Phoenix Center is a non-profit that focuses on helping Detroit’s high-risk and homeless youth. They provide a safe, inclusive space for these teens and young adults. The cold winter weather has come early to Metro Detroit, so they need all the help they can get.
So, back to the event.
Put on your dancing shoes because you’re going to be dancing the night away during the inaugural Hustle Your Heart Out To End Youth Homelessness fundraiser.
Don’t worry if you have two left feet, there will be Hustle and ballroom dancing instructors there to help teach you how to dance.
There will be a silent auction, food, plenty of drinks and it will be a lot of fun.
Tickets are $35 for general admission and $60 for the VIP treatment. You can find them here.

Noel Night
Noel Night is this Saturday night! Noel Night is my favorite winter event in the city hands down.
If you haven’t heard Tuesday’s episode of the Daily Detroit podcast, I’m going to send you over there to listen to it. We broke down all of the new things that are happening for Noel Night.
Here’s the key details about the changes for Noel Night this year.
There will now be daytime hours in addition to the nighttime hours.
If you have traditions of hitting any of those big cultural centers for Noel Night, you’re going to have to get there between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. They will be closing early. It’s a bummer, but the powers at be say it will help with congestion and will give people more time to see other things.

Miracle on 34th Street and Hudson at the Holidays
Now that we are in full blown holiday mode here at Daily Detroit it is only fitting that I include The Miracle on 34th Street at the Redford Theatre.
This Saturday the theatre will be showing the original Miracle on 34th Street with a little Natalie Wood. It’s one of my favorite holiday movies.
In addition to the movie historian Michael Hauser will give a short talk about the history of the holidays at JL Hudson’s.

8th Annual Menorah in the D
Menorah in the D will be returning to Campus Martius for its eighth year to celebrate Chanukah.
The 26 foot Menorah will be lit at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2 which is the first day of Hanukkah.
Prior to the Menorah lighting there will be a ton of family friendly activities like; Chanukah crafts, face painting, jugglers, and an opportunity to take pictures with the Dreidel mascot.
There will be complimentary snacks, hot soup, marshmallow roasting and Roasting Plant coffee.
If you need to really nosh there will be a Kosher food truck.
Menorah in the D is hosted by The Shul MI in partnership with Chabad of Greater Downtown Detroit and The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
The event is free to attend.
