Not heading up north? Detroit has everything you need for a Memorial Day weekend staycation, even if you’re not into the beats of Movement. This weekend has everyone in jitters already, the anticipation is high and the beats are steadily coming into audible range. It’s our duty to prep you on all the occasions happening on the outside of the Hart Plaza, as we’ve devoted plenty of articles to what’s going on inside (don’t forget to check out the local acts here and here if you’re going). Enjoy the scene and the city lights!
Friday: Homies Detroit – This is going to be an opportunity to unwind the mind and stretch your body out before the long weekend. The folks of Citizen Yoga, Yoga Shelter, and Blue Yoga are coming together to host an 80 minute yoga session accompanied with live experimental and atmospheric sounds. There also will be hosting an afterglow themed party to bring the festive weekend. Drinks and food will be provided for all guests. Homies Detroit is collecting a $20 for the yoga session with all the proceeds to be donated to the COTS Detroit foundation to help homeless individuals. Full disclosure, yours truly is spinning at this event.

This event has no cover and is meant to bring families and friends together for an afternoon of relaxation by the Campus Martius beach and center of Downtown.
Sunday: Rocksteady’s Funky Breakfast – Rocksteady Disco is going to be serving up House music along with special guest Chrissy all the way from Chicago. Enjoy breakfast upstairs at Cornerstone Barrel House and make that thang move downstairs from the twilight hours until the afternoon.
