I’m currently writing this from our hotel room because I’ve been on a family trip all week. We’ve been gone for a week, and let me tell you I am ready to be home.

I’m looking forward to the weekend.

There is plenty to do around town, so let’s get this thing started so I can load up my car and get back home!

Gay4Detroit

It’s the final weekend of June, so the Ringwald Theatre is going all out to celebrate and honor the LGBTQIA+ community with its Gay4Detroit All-Inclusive Gay Arts Celebration.

For the past eleven years the Ringwald has done an annual Gay Play Series, but this year they have switched it up.

Over the four nights you’ll be able to see the Fruit Cocktail Drag Extravaganza, Pride Comedy Gala, Staged Reading of “Game, Set, Match” by Tracy L. Spada, and It’s a Cabaret, Henny.

The Pride Comedy Gala is raising money for the Ruth Ellis Center, so go and spend all your money there! They do a lot of great work for the LGBTQIA+ youth community.

Personally, all four events sound like a great time to me.

Tickets range from $5 up to $15 a piece. You can buy them at the Ringwald box office or online here

Friday, June 28 through Monday, July 1 times vary.

The Ringwald Theatre is located at 22742 Woodward Avenue Ferndale, Michigan 48220

Printmaking Workshop at Articipate

I have always been fascinated with printmaking, so this workshop gets two thumbs up from me.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to create your own prints this workshop is for you.

You’ll design and carve your own relief and then make multiple prints with it.

It sounds like fun and honestly this would be self care for me. So, if you are in need of some self care go and sign up for this class.

The class is $40 per person, all of the materials are included. You can sign up here

Friday, June 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Articipate is located at 3833 Twelve Mile Road Berkley, Michigan 48072

International Asteroid Day at Cranbrook Institute of Science

Bring the whole family out to Cranbrook Institute of Science this Saturday to celebrate International Asteroid Day.

You’ll learn how to identify meteorites, build asteroid models and you’ll also get to up close and personal with authentic meteorites from around the world.

While you’re there you can learn about the increase in asteroid discovery from amateur astronomer and NASA Solar System Ambassador, Bob Trembley.

Admission to the Science Center is $13 for adults, $9.50 for children 2-12, and $9.50 for seniors 65 and older.

Cranbrook Institute of Science is located at 39221 Woodward Avenue Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48303

Pours for the Parks

If you’re looking for a place to watch the Dueling Lake Orion Fireworks, then I suggest you head over to the Lake Orion’s Children’s Park on Saturday night. The Friends of Lake Orion Village Park will be hold a fundraiser called Pours for the Parks

There will be four beers on tap, hard lemonade (because who doesn’t love that malt beverage), White Claw Seltzer drinks, and wine.

Listen to some live music, play some cornhole…you know do all of those fun summertime things.

There will also be things for kids to do as well like a face painter and balloon artist.

Proceeds raised will go toward park improvements.

Saturday, June 29 from 6:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Children’s Park is located at 201 S Broadway Street, Lake Orion, Michigan 48362

Beats & Brews & Brunch

This is a hard event to write, because this is going to be the last Beats & Brews & Brunch over at Axle Brewing.

Earlier this month Axle Brewing announced that it will be closing its doors on June 30.

So, let’s send them out with a bang and fill that beautiful space with people.

SNTNCK will be spinning records all day.

If you can’t make it on Sunday, there are plenty of things happening at Axle for the rest of the week. I might just have to head over the final Drag Queen Storytime on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday, June 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The party will continue until 9:00 p.m.

Axle Brewing is located at 567 Livernois Street Ferndale, Michigan 48220
