Every year, Food and Wine Magazine highlights the top new culinary experts from around the country. We’re pleased to see that Marc Djzolija of Wright & Company has made the list, as he is the only nominee on the list located inside the City of Detroit.
Other Detroit area chef nominees in the competition are worthy, and they include Torino’s Garret Lipar from Ferndale and James Rigato from The Root in White Lake, Michigan.
If you haven’t been to Wright & Co. this might be your cue to check it out. It’s located on the second floor of the Wright-Kay Building in Downtown Detroit, at 1500 Woodward. The atmosphere has big city appeal with a touch of class, making it the perfect locale for a date or a night out on the town with friends. Wright & Co. has a variety of delectable small plates and and craft cocktails, but it’s also designed to be a place where people are meant to socialize.
Food & Wine says that Djozlija is “amazing” because “the Wolfgang Puck alumnus now has his own place in downtown Detroit, where he serves excellent, boldly flavored small plates like bay scallops in brandy and dates with almonds and Gorgonzola.”
And if that sounds too fancy, they’ve also got pork belly sliders and loaded homemade potato chips that are to die for.
“My business partner and I have worked hard to create a place in the heart of Detroit that reflects Detroit’s unique character,” said Djozlija.
According to F & W, his “quintessential dish” is shrimp. So if you want the full effect, check out the current seasonal menu for the crisp gulf shrimp with sweet chili sauce and micro cilantro.
