The driving range and entertainment chain Topgolf is looking to build a 65,000 square foot location near Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills.
According the Auburn Hills Development blog that’s maintained by the development department staff of the city, the location will be on 16 acres between I-75 and Great Lakes Crossing Drive, and west of Joslyn Road.
The development will feature 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time, food, drinks, and other games. Topgolf is a little different than a driving range. The golf balls have microchips in them so they digitally report back to a screen in your driving bay, and there are multiple targets for you to try to hit.
Topgolfs generally have multiple levels, and it is set up for corporate parties and events. They expect the facility to be open year round.
There are currently 44 Topgolf locations in the United States and United Kingdom.
The $12.5 million plan, if approved by the Auburn Hills City Council, says that the new Topgolf would be ready in the fall of 2018.
