Pizza is one of the things that makes the world go round, and Tubby’s is expanding its menu to include this delectable dish close to the hearts of Detroiters.
Tubby’s pizzas include a Philly Cheesesteak pizza to match its popular Philly Cheesesteak Sub and Tubby’s Smokin’ BBQ Chicken pizza.
There’s also an Everything Pizza that comes with mild peppers, cheese, pepperoni, ham, bacon, beef, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onion, green pepper, black olives, and Tubby’s pizza sauce. If you don’t see a pizza you want on the menu, you can build your own pizza.
“We’ve wanted to have a pizza offering for some time now but we wanted to make sure we got it right before we went public with it,” says Tubby’s CEO Robert Paganes. “We think we’re ready now with a full line of mouth watering pizzas that will complement our sub sandwiches and give our franchisees a broader lineup of choices for their customers.”
Tubby’s pizza line will roll out at its Riverview corporate store to give the company a chance to gauge customer reaction before pizza is offered at select Tubby’s locations throughout Southeast Michigan.
“This is why we’re opening this corporate store in the first place,” said Paganes, “to get us closer to our retail customers and test new products and processes with real people. We’re confident our pizzas are going to be an immediate hit with consumers but our experience here in Riverview will give us the real answer and will allow us to make any necessary tweaks before we offer our pizza products to our franchisees system-wide.”
Pizzas will be available in a variety of slices, from single slices to extra large and party size. Prices range from $1.75 for a single slice to $39 for a party size specialty pizza. Two slices and a soft drink will be offered at $4.72, but when you add sales tax, that comes to a flat $5.
Pizza slices will be available at the drive-thru, making Tubby’s one of the few causal dining restaurants to offer pizza via drive-thru windows.
“We’re very excited about this new pizza line. It will appeal to individual walk-in or drive-thru customers but will also broaden our catering options and help us to take care of just about any party needs with a more complete product line,” said Bill Kiryakoza, executive vice president at Tubby’s. “It will make Tubby’s more of a ‘go to’ place than ever for quality casual foods. Our ‘Detroit Original’ is growing up.”
Tubby’s started in 1968 in St. Clair Shores.
