There’s a pair of restaurants in the same building in downtown Ferndale that while open only for a short time have found quick success.
They are Pop’s for Italian and the Daily Dinette, both owned by Kramer Restaurant Group.
Pop’s is already needing to expand, while Daily Dinette will add some grab and go menu items and salads.
The Daily Dinette has been notable of late for their 24-hour service, of which there are not many in the metro Detroit market, especially those in the middle of a walkable bar district like downtown Ferndale is. They have burgers, coneys, unique donuts, and other items of that type currently.
That 24-hour service is going to be curtailed as the restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturdays, with the organization saying that will allow a more efficient use of time and space for staff.
Pop’s has seen a lot of success with their wine program (which will be expanding with tastings and classes), and will be adding a private dining area as well as brunch.
“With the addition of brunch at Pop’s for Italian, the popularity of our Starter Bar that features fresh fruit, charcuterie and pastries, the need to prepare fresh pasta and pizza dough daily, and the growing request to offer a space for larger parties, we found a way to make a few changes that would be in the best interest of both locations,” said Kramer.
Both restaurants are located at 280 W. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale.
