If you thought that the Detroit Zoo was the only place to find Bald Eagles around here, think again.
A tipster forwarded us this video showing that yesterday a female bald eagle was released back into the wild on the DTE Energy Monroe power plant property. In the past, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has counted more than 100 eagles, adults and juveniles, near the shoreline at the Monroe Power Plant.
The coal-fired plant near the shore of Lake Erie serves both Michigan and Ohio.
This particular bird is just under a year old and was found injured on the property by DTE security back in December.
Thanks to the efforts of licensed Falconer Dave Hogan and Veterinarian Kevin Smith Smythe from Morrison Animal Hospital, she is back to full health and she’s now roaming free over the skies of Michigan.
