Wahlburgers has a new burger on the menu and I had a chance to try it today.
Their newest burger is called the Impossible Burger.
It has a 4 oz. Impossible Burger patty, smoked cheddar, lettuce, caramelized onions, chili spiced tomatoes, Paul’s signature Wahl sauce.
Now, you might be wondering why it is called the Impossible Burger.
That is because the patty is not actually made with hamburger — but with plants.
A Silicon Valley company called Impossible Foods has created a plant based meat called Impossible Burger that is suppose to taste and feel like hamburger. It is made with wheat protein, potato protein, coconut oil, and heme.
Heme is a basic building block in numerous plants and animals. It is also the molecule that gives meat the smell, sizzle and taste.
“What I love about it is the texture and deep flavor it has. When it comes down to it there is only five or six ingredients. That’s it,” said Co-Owner and Chef Paul Wahlberg.
Wahlburgers in Boston were the first to get the Impossible Burger on the menu last December. It has since been rolled out to all of the Wahlburgers locations.
We have more reactions – and an interview with Paul Wahlberg – on our newest episode of the Daily Detroit News Byte.
