Pierre Anthony is not new to music or performing, but much of the world, and even Detroit, might still be new to him.
He’s been singing since he was 8 years old and has been writing his own music, as well as music for other artists, since he was 13. He’s also a graduate of the acclaimed Detroit High School for the Performing Arts.
With influences like Dave Hollister, Carl Thomas, Anthony Hamilton, and more of the Motown legends, he represents some of the best of what Detroit music has to offer.
You may have seen him performing around town at venues like Bert’s Warehouse, The Whitney Hotel, or Baker’s Keyboard Lounge; or you may have heard about him after he took home the 2013 Detroit Black Music Awards Detroit Male Vocalist of the Year Award, or the 2012 Internet Radio Broadcasters Association Male Performance Artist of the Year award.
Like we said, he’s not new to this.
Now, he’s turning heads with a performance of an A Capella version of his song, “Don’t Love Me Like You Say You Do”, in what appears to be a high school classroom.
Banging out a slick groove on a desk and effortlessly singing a heart wrenching tale of love gone wrong, the students sit still, completely mesmerized by his performance – which, if you’re like a good chunk of the world right now, you were too.
Anthony’s raw talent and stellar song writing is downright otherworldly and deserves all the attention it can find. It’s already garnered more than six million views on Facebook.
