The popular grocery chain, Whole Foods Market, has announced that it will open it’s new flagship Michigan location in 2017.
The opening will replace the 23,000-square-foot Troy Somerset location at 2880 West Maple Road.
The new location change isn’t too far from its current home. The store will move down the road to a 46,000-square-foot location in the 2100 block of East Maple Road in Birmingham.
“Whole Foods Market has been serving the Troy and Birmingham communities for many years in a relatively small store. During that time we’ve been very grateful for the strong support we’ve received from the community,” said Whole Foods Market’s Midwest Regional Manager, Michael Bashaw. “Now we have the opportunity to improve our service to our customers with a larger store with a much larger selection.”
The Troy store opened on December 29, 1997, replacing one of six Merchant of Vino locations purchased by the company in the area.
In addition to the Troy location, there are currently five other Michigan Whole Foods Locations, including Rochester Hills, West Bloomfield, Detroit, and two in Ann Arbor.
The company has plans to open its newest Michigan location in East Lansing, at 2778 East Grand River Avenue, in 2016.
