Last month my husband and I decided to try out Woodpile BBQ in Clawson. We enjoy trying out all of the different places throughout the region, so it had been on our list for a while. We all really enjoyed our meal.
So, when I got the news that the Woodpile BBQ will be opening a second location in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood of Detroit I was excited. If you’re unfamiliar with where Milwaukee Junction is, it is across Woodward from New Center.
The restaurant will be 2,000 square feet at 6402 Woodward in Detroit and will offer diners a quick casual dining option. The Woodpile will serve Texas style BBQ, sides, Treat Dreams ice cream, and will have a full bar.
“We love Detroit, and we love great barbecue, so this is an opportunity to pair those two passions together,” said Zac Idzikowski, one of four partners in the project. “With all that’s going on in Detroit, how can you not want to be part of the rebirth of this great city?”
The Woodpile BBQ is estimated to open in early 2018 and will be located in the new Baltimore Station development. The development will be made up of two buildings and will offer 23 apartments on the second and third floors. There will also be 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Baltimore Station is part of a much larger development known as The Platform. The Platform is renovating the Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings, building the Third and Grand mix-use development, and working on other developments in TechTown and Milwaukee Junction.
