Hello again Detroit. The weekend is upon us once again and we’ve got a lot of action ahead—and seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day weekend, we hope you do too.
With so much love in the air, we’ve decided to put a little bit of it into this week’s event selection, and hope that you can find something to do whether you’re currently coupled or flying solo.

GRiZ at St. Andrews—Friday, 8 p.m. —Detroit
Detroit’s funkyt hometown hero is back again for another pair of performances.
On Friday, join GRiZ and his surprise opening guest as they take over St. Andrews Hall Downtown. Tickets are still available but not for long, so click here to get yours now.
If the show happens to sell out before you get your chance to grab tickets, then you might opt for the Saturday night DJ set at Populux. Rock out to a curated set from the man himself, which is sure to to be packed with hits and some special surprises for the hometown crowd.

Rocky Horror Picture Show at Detroit Cinema—Friday and Saturday—Detroit
On both Friday and Saturday night, join Cinema Detroit for back to back nights of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
This rare showing of the classic film comes complete with a costume contest and loads of other fun surprises for the whole family to enjoy. Categories for the costume contest include Brad, Janet, Riff Raff, Criminologist (Narrator), Magenta, Columbia, Rocky, Eddie, Dr. Scott, plus “Best Transylvanian,” awarded to whoever has the most detailed and authentic party-goer costume. The winner in each category will receive a Cinema Detroit pass good for 12 free tickets, one per month for the next year (some restrictions will apply).
Tickets to see the film are just $10, and prop bags packed with rice, rings, newspapers, flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, toilet paper, toast, party hats, and cards are available for an additional $6.

VLNTNSDYMRKT 4—Friday, 6p—Detroit
On Friday night, grab a last minute gift for the cutie in your life—or yourself if you’re wallowing in Valentine’s Day sadness—at Pot and Box’s fourth annual indie Valentine’s Day market at the Jam Handy on Grand Boulevard.
There will be plenty of great Detroit retailers on hand to choose from, as well as as well as Katoi, who’ll serve up a delicious dinner, and Nick Drinks crafting some tasty adult beverages to fire up your engines or drown your emotions.

2016 Downtown Detroit Meridian Winter Blast—Saturday, 7 p.m. —Detroit
Prepare your self for one of the best family friendly winter events in the D—The annual Winter Blast celebration in Campus Martius.
You and the fam will enjoy free ice skating in Campus Martius Park, professional skating demonstrations, unique ice sculptures, food, marshmallow roasting, live entertainment, and, of course, everyone’s favorite winter toy, the giant ice slide.
This year’s live entertainment includes two stages with more than 50 performing acts. There is a Taste of Detroit food and vendor tent with Metro Detroit restaurants, local stores and artisans, as well as a special Kid Zone and several Comfort Stations where you can warm up your frozen limbs.

Bitter Valentine—Sunday, 5 p.m. —Detroit
Ok, enough of the lovey dovey for one list—here’s one for the bitter hearts out there.
From 5 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Sunday, grab your loneliest friends and dwell on your ever-growing emptiness together for a special cocktail menu featuring libations both sweet and bitter.
In addition to the cocktails, there will be a special dinner and dessert menu prepared by Brendon Edwards of Standby, Alex Clark of Bon Bon Bon and Matt Tulpa of Salt & Saffron.
AND HERE’S THE BEST PART—If you bring a love letter from your ex, the anti-cupids at this event will freeze it in liquid nitrogen, smash it, and console you as you weep, reflecting on all the loves that have come and gone… OK, you’re on your own for that one.
