I hope last weekend’s list helped you get all of your shopping in order, because now it’s time to celebrate your hard work with some good ole fashioned partying.
This week’s list is full of enough parties to keep even the wildest souls entertained, so let’s get down to it.
Here it is Detroit, your city 5 for December 18-20.
Fundamentals – Friday – 11 p.m. – Detroit
First up, on Friday night make your way Downtown as Wild Oats and Assemble Sound throw down an all night dance party for the ages.
The party will celebrate the much anticipated release of Detroit techno artist Kyle Hall’s newest album, which will debut next month.
Hall will team up with Detroit techno brethren Jay Daniel for a night of music from two of the most talked-about emerging producer/DJs in the world.
It’s been over a year since these two beasts joined forces for a set, so you better believe they’re going to bring the house down.
Joining the duo to open the show will be DJ Scott Grooves who presents an “Overdubs” set featuring keyboardist and producer Ian Finklestein and renowned jazz saxophonist Marcus Elliott.
Tickets are available for just $10 Pre-sale and $15 at the door.

Santarchy – Saturday – 7 p.m. – Detroit
If you hit the aforementioned part on Friday night, then you should be getting out of bed just in time to hop back on the party horse with the Santarchy bar crawl in Detroit on Saturday.
You’ll join over 2,000 Santa’s and Elves for this raucous bar crawl through Corktown, Cass Corridor, Eastern Market, and all over downtown with thousands of people dressed as Santa and all sorts of holiday costumes.
The kickoff party starts in Corktown with LIVE musical entertainment at the Gaelic League Irish-American Club located on Michigan Avenue near Slow’s BBQ.
After catching a sturdy buzz there, hop on a private bus that will take you away on the crawl to any one of 10+ different bars along the way
Make sure to RSVP if you’re planning on riding the party bus, as reservations are on a first come first served basis. If you don’t RSVP, organizers recommend arriving between 5:30-6:30 p.m. to claim your spot.
Pre party kicks off at 7 p.m. and passes for the event are $20.

Dinner with Santa – Saturday – 6 p.m. – Detroit Zoo
While I wanted to dedicate most of this week’s collection to our party going listeners, I did find one event for families that was more nice than naughty.
Celebrate the holiday season on Saturday evening with a feast at the Detroit Zoo’s Dinner with Santa at Wild Lights.
The buffet-style dinner includes a special gift for each child, arts and crafts, story time and a visit from Santa as well as admission to Wild Lights.
Tickets are $39 for adults and $34 for children and must be purchased in advance. Things kick off at the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery December 18 and 19, 6-7:30 p.m.

Motor City Soul Club: Holiday Soul Stomp – Saturday – 10 p.m. – Detroit
If bar crawls and Santa dinners aren’t your thing, then check out St. Cece’s in Corktown for the return of the The Motor City Soul Club holiday soiree.
From 10 p.m.-2 a.m., local soul-slingers, Brad Hales and Dan Austin will be bring the heat as they’re joined by guest DJ Dan Vahaba, all the way from Massachusetts.
Jam out to Northern soul and funk records you may have never heard and some classics you’ll never forget.
The event kicks off at 10 p.m. and is free to attend. For more info, log onto Facebook and search for Motor City Soul Club: Holiday Soul Stomp.
Bill Effing Murray Ugly Sweater Holiday Party – Sunday – 5 p.m. – Detroit
On Sunday, cap off your weekend raging with one more round of cocktails at Sugar house in Corktown for their Ugly sweater holiday party.
Grab your most egregious sweater and celebrate the holidays in an absolute lack of style.
In addition to the shocking display of bad taste in holiday garb, you’ll enjoy special holiday inspired libations, ice cream, cookies, and more.
As an added bonus, you can participate in the party wide secret Santa by bringing a wrapped gift to the party, dropping it under the tree, and taking another wrapped gift as your present. Leave your name on the gift or stay anonymous, but make it a good one!
The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and it’s free to attend. For more information, log onto Facebook and search Bill Effing Murray Ugly Sweater Holiday Party.
