Hey there everyone!
If your house is anything like mine, we’ve been counting down the days until Sunday. Mainly because it’s someone’s birthday. But you can still count down the days until the weekend because there are some really great things happening around town.
Let’s get on to this weeks picks!
15th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
Friday is the big night! The giant 60 foot Norway spruce will be lit during the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Campus Martius.
Can you believe that it is the 15th year that we’ve had the tree lighting ceremony? I can remember that first year like it was yesterday.
This year’s event will feature a performance by Detroit’s own Grammy award-winning gospel singer Cece Winans. Olympic skating duo Alex and Maia Shibutani will also perform and are sure to wow the crowd.
If Campus Martius is too crowded for you, head over to Beacon Park. The tree lighting will be live streamed there. Plus there will also be live performances by Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers and Nadir Omowale.
There will be a free shuttle between Campus Martius and Beacon Park.
Friday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. get there early because it will get crowded.
Campus Martius is located at 800 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

The band will perform music from Ben Wallace, Julius Eastman and Missy Mazzoli along with new compositions by Paul Kerekes and Detroit composer Harriet Steinke.
Admission to the DIA is free if you live in the Tri-County region.
Friday, November 16 with performances at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

P.S. This would be a great alternative if you don’t feel like hitting the Tree Lighting.
Maybe Tonight
