Hey everyone! I hope that this week is going well for you.
This week has been busy for me. I’ve been busy working and also getting everything in order for the trip I’m taking to New England next week.
There are a long of great events happening this weekend. Let’s get to it.
Pierogi at Lost River
We love pierogies at Daily Detroit, and I’m pretty sure you all love pierogies as well. So I figured I’d let you know about this fun little pierogi pop up at Lost River on Friday night.
Pietrzyk Pierogi will be setting up shop at the newest Tiki Bar on the eastside.
Come hungry because these pierogi sound delicious. You can find the menu here, and you’ll probably find my editor there, too.
When: Friday, August 10 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Lost River is located at 15421 Mack Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48224
Detroit: You’re So Unusual Bus Tour
If you’re like me and like going on tours that take you off the beaten path, then the Detroit: You’re So Unusual Bus Tour from the City Tour Detroit is for you.
This bus tour will take you to places all over the city of Detroit like Jimmy Hoffa’s office, Detroit’s little Venice, and and eerie vault that is filled with cremains of well-known Detroiters.
The tour will take roughly 5 hours, and is filled with plenty of opportunities to get off of the bus to look around. There will also be a lunch break in the middle of the tour.
Tickets for the tour are $55 per person and you can make your reservation here.
When: Saturday, August 11 the bus departs promptly at 12:00 p.m.
The tour starts in front of the Eastern Market Offices
Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival
I love pierogi so much that I have TWO events dedicated to the polish dumpling. I am really sad that I have to miss out on the Pierogi Festival this year.
This weekend is the 37th annual Pierogi Festival at Mother of Divine Mercy near Eastern Market.
There will be plenty of food, music, dancing, and bingo games to be had this weekend. I also recommend going to one of the masses during the weekend.
The pre party is on Friday, August 10 from 6:00 until 10:00. The pre party is 21 and over.
Saturday: 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Sunday: 12:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Sweetest Heart of Mary is located at 4440 Russell St, Detroit, Michigan 48207
Pewabic Summer Sale
This weekend is the Pewabic Summer Sale. I’m pretty sure I add this annual event to my City 5 every year, but there’s good reason for that.
I love Pewabic, in fact I’m always looking for the next piece to add to my collection. I know my husband loves my slight addiction to Pewabic.
Also, if you have been kicking around the idea of redoing the tile in your house with Pewabic, I suggest you come to this sale.
You never know what you might find at this sale. There will be architectural field tile and handcrafted ceramic giftware.
The sale starts on Saturday for members only and will continue on Sunday for the public.
When: Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 12 from 11:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Pewabic is located at 10125 E Jefferson Ave, Detroit, MI 48214
4th Annual Car Show and Detroit Firemen’s Fund Field Day at Historic Fort Wayne
There will be two events at Historic Fort Wayne this Sunday, so I’m giving you more bang for your buck.
If you like cars then you should head over to the fort to check out the 4th Annual Car Show.
There will be cars of all makes, models, and years out on display, and it will be a lot of fun.
The car show will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
It is $5 a person to get into the car show.
The second event is the 96th Annual Detroit Firemen’s Field Day.
This is a summer tradition, and it is a lot of fun.
There will be tons of family activities to participate in like face painting, dunk tanks, and a train. Not to mention the most important part, fire trucks. There will also be food available for purchase.
The Fireman’s Fund Field Day opens at 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
When: Sunday, August 12
Fort Wayne is located at 6325 West Jefferson, Detroit, Michigan 48209

Open Streets Detroit Rouge Park
Just a short reminder that Open Streets Detroit Rouge Park was rescheduled for this Saturday.
If you have never been to Rouge Park, then you are in for a treat. It is the largest park in the city of Detroit and spans 1,184 acres. It has two Olympic-sized swimming pools, an event center, and even a campground. Yes, I said a campground.
The event will close down three miles of the roads inside Rouge Park which is located on the west side of Detroit.
There are plenty of fun family friendly things planned for the event this Saturday. Open Streets is free to attend.
You can find more information about the event here.
When: Saturday, August 11 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

DOUBLE BONUS: Motor City Soul Stomp
It’s time again for the monthly Motor City Soul Stomp, which means it’s time to brush off your dancing shoes and head over to the Marble Bar on Saturday night.
Even if you don’t plan on dancing it is still fun to go listen to the Motor City Soul club spin rare Soul and Funk vinyl from the 60’s and 70’s. I just like to listen to the music, watch the people dance, and have a cocktail.
The best part is that it’s free to get in.
When: Saturday, August 11 from 10:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m.
The Marble Bar is located at 1501 Holden Street Detroit, Michigan 48208
